In September of 2016 I was diagnosed with Invasive Breast Cancer after finding a lump during a routine self exam. That diagnosis changed me and the way I would see myself forever. Over the next 14 months I underwent a double mastectomy, chemo and chemo related therapies (which caused me to lose my hair), reconstruction surgery, and several additional “tweakings”. Throughout my treatment, I kept asking myself: Will I ever be the same? Will I ever feel the same?
The mastectomy had taken away my self confidence and reconstruction had left me with chills and spasms in my breast and tenderness in my chest, bones, and ribs. When all of my treatments were over, I tried to reclaim my self-confidence and shop for intimate apparel. I was shown bras with prosthetic pockets, heavy straps, and a generic/medical look, but none of them addressed the discomfort I was feeling. I knew that there had to be a solution. A bra that offered comfort, compression, and warmth, but that also looked beautiful and sexy. When my search led to a dead end, I turned to two of the men that stood by me during my cancer journey, my nephews Eric and Austin.
Together, we worked for over a year creating our first product: a bra that helped me feel good about myself while alleviating my cold and shivering sensations. I know now that I am not the same person I was before cancer. I have emerged from the battle stronger and more resilient than ever before. In that strength I found renewed self-confidence and I feel beautiful inside and out. I hope our products do the same for you. – Roberta Lombardi, Founder of Infinite Beauty
